While there are often non-comics writers decrying the over abundance of comic book media in film, TV, and pop culture, these cries are usually steeped in exaggeration. For November 2017, the haters have a point. Between Thor: Ragnarok, Justice League, The Punisher, and Runaways (not to mention TV ongoings like The Gifted, CW-verse, and (Randac be damned) Inhumans), there’s more comic booking than you can shake a Mjolnir at.
With that in mind, below you’ll find Comic Book Herald guides to each and every comic book character, team, or universe currently gracing our viewscreens. When you come out of Ragnarok or Justice League inspired to read every comic ever made, these are the guides you’ll want to use!
Thor: Ragnarok
Coming in to this weekend it’s almost easy to forget Thor: Ragnarok was only released in the US two weeks ago. The Taika Waititi comedy is an instant classic, and already my 5th favorite movie in the entire MCU.
For readers looking for more about Thor and Asgard, I’d recommend the following guides.

Justice League
The DCEU’s Justice League is, for my money, the best movie in the fledgling universe, and already extremely underrated.
Justice League puts the entire DCEU on exactly the right track, and suggests a promising future for longtime fans of the comic book super-team.
Below you’ll find my recommendations for comics to read after you come out of Justice League!

The Punisher on Netflix
Marvel came in hot with the decision to release The Punisher on Netflix during opening weekend of DC’s Justice League. It’s a calculated gamble for sure, and also likely to cause more furious spousal arguments this weekend alone than an entire 2017 NFL season.
To see what Punisher comics you should read, I recommend:

Runaways on Hulu
In a perplexing and almost completely overlooked addition to the comic book media hype train, Runaways will also be dropping it’s first episode on Hulu the week of Thanksgiving.
The original Runaways comic series by Brian K. Vaugh and Adrian Alphona is a perpetual fan favorite, and easily one of the best Marvel creations of the 2000’s. The TV show has the potential to free prestige Marvel from the trappings of the now increasingly stale Netflix formula.
