  • Just discovered your podcast, and I’m enjoying it. On your latest episode, I think the flaws you identify with the Byrne Fantastic Four issues (220-221) stem from its origin. It was repurposed from a promo comic (commissioned by Coca Cola I think). From what I read Coke didn’t want a villain or violence, leading to the kind of dull plot. It’s also why it flashed back to the origin and some of the other things in the issue, as it was meant to be given away to kids who didn’t necessarily know who the Fantastic Four were.

    • This makes a lot of sense! Thanks for the insight, I definitely didn't know that.

Hope you keep listening and chiming in!
