Of all the Marvel NOW! titles to launch in the wake of Avengers vs. X-Men, Uncanny Avengers is undoubtedly the lynchpin. While All-New X-Men embraces the plight of the X-Men following the events of AvX, and Uncanny X-Men continues the struggle of Cyclops and his fellow outlaws, nothing touches on mutant/human relations like Uncanny Avengers. Following the tyrannical (albeit well-intentioned) world takeover from the mutant Phoenix Five, anti-mutant sentiment is at all time high, meaning if the Avengers and X-Men can’t come together there will be a riot goin’ on. Ms. Marvel #8 Review! Teleporting Mustachioed Dogs
G. Willow Wilson continues to inject Ms. Marvel with more of the Marvel Universe, while at the same time keeping the title its own distinct entity separate from the rest of the universe. Adrian Alphona returns for art duties after Jake Wyatt filled in for the last two issues. After the first five issues introduced us to Kamala and her world, issues 6 and 7 injected the X-Men (or Wolverine) into her title, and now this arc begins to insert the Inhumans (she doesn’t know she is one). This is being done one step at a time by introducing an adorable magic animal (I know he’s not “magical”) in the form of Lockjaw as Kamala’s new pet. [Read more…] about Ms. Marvel #8 Review! Magneto #9 Review! The March to Axis has begun
The first issue in the March to Axis comes in the form of the latest issue of Magneto. Magneto has been one of my favorite new Marvel comics of the year and has given us one of the best anti-hero stories that I’ve found in the comics medium. It’s also one of my favorite iterations of the Magneto character out of everything that I’ve read. I’ve been trying to tell everyone I know to check this one out. As I said earlier this is a prelude of sorts for Marvel’s fall event, Axis, combing one of my favorite comics with one of my most anticipated comics of the year. I enjoyed this issue and am excited to see how the rest of this arc will play out. [Read more…] about Magneto #9 Review! The March to Axis has begun
Avengers Undercover #10 Review! It all… ends… HERE
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS
Seriously!
So we’ve finally reached the end to the journey that began in Avengers Arena. What began as a transparent Hunger Games knock off when it was announced turned out to be a well written, character driven tale that was an exciting read from start to end. The survivors of that book continued their adventures in Avengers Undercover which posited whether or not the experiences these characters dealt with would result in them turning to the dark side and joining up with Baron Zemo’s organization. Riddle Me This?: Detective Comics- Future’s End #1 Review!
For me, the “Future’s End” storyline has been a swing and a miss. Though I was very happy to see Terry McGinnis become part of the Batman canon, there seems to be too much going on. With Brother Eye’s assimilation of everything, Brainiac’s imminent return, and a masked Superman revealed to be Captain Marvel, I was craving something far more simple. Thus, I was very pleased when I read this one shot “Future’s End” issue in “Detective Comics.” [Read more…] about Riddle Me This?: Detective Comics- Future’s End #1 Review!
